Dan Hurley and UConn are looking to become the first program to win three national championships in the span of four years since John Wooden and UCLA did it in the 60s and 70s.
The best chance for UConn making that happen comes in the form of Tarris Reed Jr. The big man will square off against his former team, Michigan, where he spend his freshman and sophomore seasons.
Reed started in 31 of 32 games for Juwan Howard's 2023/24 team that went 8-24 overall and 3-17 in the Big Ten. Reed Jr. had averaged 9.0 points and 7.2 rebounds in that season.
Just like the Michigan basketball program under Dusty May, Reed Jr. has also exponentially improved. His touch around the basket and rebounding has gotten better, and his play in the tournament has been especially outstanding.
This year, Reed Jr. is averaging 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, leading the Big East in field goal percentage at 61.7%.
Reed Jr., 6-10 and 280 pounds, has scored 20+ points in three of the five games of the tourney, including his monstrous 31-point, 27-rebound output he had against Furman in the Round of 64.
He has been dominant in the quarterfinal and semifinal games as well, putting up 26 and nine on Duke and 17 and 11 against Illinois.
Tonight we'll see what he has up his sleeve against his former team that now features a massive frontcourt: Aday Mara, Yaxel Lendeborg, and Morez Johnson Jr. will all be tasked with helping out against Reed Jr.
Ahead of the national championship, let's take a look at Reed Jr.'s player props, odds, and lines on bet365.
