It’s Subriel Matias’ first fight under Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, and a fight I do expect him to look good in.
Liam Paro is a very capable operator and had a good win over Montana Love last time out, and a first-round stoppage win over Brock Jarvis before then.
But this is a different level for Paro.
Matias is considered by many to be one of the most avoided fighters in all of boxing and has a 100% win rate by knockout, of course just one defeat (against Petros Ananyan) which he has subsequently avenged by KO.
I do expect Matias to chew Paro up in those middle rounds. As we’ve seen in the past, when Matias gets going, it is very, very difficult to hold him off. We’ve seen four of his last five stoppages coming between rounds five and eight, and that’s where my money will be this weekend on Matias.
I do expect Paro to try and utilize his boxing skills early on, he is a crafty operator. But ultimately, I think Matias will drag him into a dogfight and take him out somewhere in those middle rounds.
My plays this weekend are Subriel Matias by KO/TKO/DQ between Rounds 5-8 at +175, and I’ll also be looking at Matias between Rounds 4-6 at +300.
