After winning a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics at Bantamweight, Stevenson turned pro in 2017 and won his first fight in April of that year against Edgar Brito.

Stevenson then won his next eight bouts before taking on Jessie Cris Rosales in January 2019, who he beat by TKO to secure the vacant IBF Inter-Continental and WBC Continental Americas featherweight titles.

In October of that same year, he extended his winning record to 13 with a unanimous decision success over Joet Gonzalez to claim the vacant WBO featherweight title.

In 2020, he fought twice, seeing off Felix Caraballo and Toka Khan Clary, before, in June 2021, he beat Jeremiah Nakathila to pick up the vacant WBO interim super featherweight title.

The WBO super-featherweight title soon followed when Stevenson defeated Jamel Herring and his superb form continued when he unified the WBC and vacant The Ring super-featherweight titles with his WBO belt when he overcame Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision in April 2022.

Another unanimous points decision was secured with victory over Robson Conceicao in his first championship defense as a unified super-featherweight in September 2022.

After announcing his move to lightweight, Stevenson beat Japanese fighter Shuichiro Yoshino thanks to a sixth-round stoppage in April 2023 and was last in the ring in November, winning the vacant WBC lightweight title by beating Edwin De Los Santos on points.
