Sporting Kansas City is one of MLS' oldest franchises and used to be named the Kansas City Wizards.
Sporting KC has won two MLS Cups in franchise history - once in 2000 and once in 2013. However, after reaching the Western Conference Semifinals in 2023, Kansas City hasn't qualified for the playoffs since.
Unlike the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals who both play in Kansas City, Missouri, Sporting KC plays their games in the state of Kansas.
