USA vs. Colombia Women: Picks, Predictions and Odds

Thursday marks the return of the SheBelieves Cup, an international women's soccer tournament hosted by the USA each year.

This month the United States Women's National Team will be joined by Australia, Colombia and Japan in the four-team tournament with matches taking place in Arizona, Texas and California.

The format is simple with the four teams involved set to play each other once and the team at the top of the standings will be crowned champions.

The USA have won all but two of the previous nine editions of the SheBelieves Cup - France were winners in 2017 and England prevailed in 2019 - and they will once again be the team to beat.

But with all four teams involved inside the top 21 of the FIFA world rankings as of December 2024, it should be competitive.

The first matches will take place on Thursday this week and the USWNT gets its campaign underway against Colombia at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.

USA Women vs. Colombia Women betting picks and predictions

Half Time / Full Time: USA Women / USA Women (-125)

Since taking the reins as USWNT head coach last year, it is fair to say Emma Hayes has been a success.

Despite minimal time to work with her squad, Hayes made an immediate impact by winning gold at the 2024 Olympics with the USA Women's team and they have continued to excel in friendlies.

In October last year, the USA Women reeled off three successive wins, beating Iceland twice before a 3-0 mauling of Argentina.

And they impressed against stronger opponents in their final matches of 2024, holding World Cup runners-up England to a 0-0 draw at Wembley before a 2-1 win over the Netherlands.

There has been a bit of a hiatus since then but one benefit of that has been players returning from injury, most notably Catarina Macario, who is back in the USWNT squad for the first time since last June.

The USA will be without players such as Mallory Swanson and Trinity Rodman for the SheBelieves Cup but the roster is deep and the tournament will give Hayes the chance to field younger sides after she was vocal about improving the women's youth setup.

In terms of a wager on their opener against Colombia, value can be hard to come by given how short they are in the match betting.

But they will be eager to start this tournament with a bang and a bet on the USA to be winning at half-time before going on to win the match appeals at -125.

USA Women to win 2-1 (+850)

Bettors after more value on this SheBelieves Cup clash should consider backing the USA Women to win this match 2-1.

While they are fancied to win, Colombia could get on the scoresheet, having netted in each of their last eight internationals.

That streak featured two meetings with South American giants Brazil, and Colombia undoubtedly have quality in their ranks.

The most eye-catching name in their SheBelieves Cup roster is teenage sensation Linda Caicedo, who has gone from strength to strength since moving to Real Madrid in 2023.

The diminutive winger has struck four times in the Primera Division Femenina de Futbol in Spain this season and can help her side get on the scoresheet.

The USA played just two matches in the SheBelieves Cup en route to victory last year and they conceded in both of their games with their opener against Japan finishing 2-1 in their favor, so a repeat of that scoreline in this contest is a possibility.
