The United States Women's National Team had a confidence-boosting pair of comfortable victories in their last set of friendly fixtures at the start of this month and head coach Emma Hayes will be looking for more of the same from her team against the Republic of Ireland in Colorado on Thursday night.

The teams are playing back-to-back friendly matches against each other, firstly at Commerce City and then at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati on Sunday, while the US also have a friendly clash with Canada to look forward to next Wednesday.

United States vs. Ireland Women betting picks and predictions

USA-USA Half-Time/Full-Time (-175)

Friendly matches, by their very nature, are not the most reliable betting medium with little of note riding on the outcome and coaches using the fixtures chiefly as a means of assessing their squads and making multiple substitutions.

Given the schedule of their week ahead, it would make sense for USA coach Emma Hayes to deploy a stronger side in the first of the two matches against Ireland, enabling her to field more of the players at the bottom of the roster in the second match in Cincinnati, which comes just three days before a stronger test against Canada.

Ireland were available for these matches because they are not involved in the Women's Euro 2025 tournament, which starts in Switzerland next week.

Taking on the United States, who are ranked first in the world, is a far tougher challenge and with the Ireland squad going through a period of transition, they could be in for a challenging time.

The USWNT beat China 3-0 and Jamaica 4-0 in their last two matches and should be able to comfortably lead at half-time and full-time against Ireland.

Emma Hayes has been in charge of the USWNT for around 18 months now and including their gold-medal run at the 2024 Olympic Games, she has won 18 of her first 22 matches in charge.

The United States' head-to-head record against Ireland suggests they should add another win with some ease in Colorado, as the Stars and Stripes have won all 15 of the nations' previous meetings.

Ireland have scored just once in total in all those matches, with the US netting 51 times, and while the last two wins over the Irish were by more subdued 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines, visiting head coach Carla Ward is some way from getting her team the way she wants and they could learn some hard lessons against the American side.

The hosts have the potential to at least match their four-goal tally from their win over Jamaica in Missouri, so taking over 3.5 goals in the match appeals.

USA Women to win 5-0 correct score (+1600)

For a big potential payout, a small interest in a 5-0 win for the Olympic champions at +1600 is attractive. 

The Irish team could struggle to adapt to the conditions and may tire in the second half of what could be a difficult match, while the home side should be full of players looking to take the opportunity to impress their coach and stake a claim for a regular place in the team for more meaningful matches.
