Tuesday provides a rematch of last season’s UEFA Champions League Final as Real Madrid take on Borussia Dortmund at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Wembley Stadium in London saw these sides go head-to-head in the final last term, with Borussia Dortmund wasting a number of chances before losing 2-0 to Los Blancos.
Dortmund have responded well to the disappointment of that final defeat in the English capital, as they have hit the ground running in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Winning 3-0 at Club Brugge in their opening game, Dortmund went on to thrash Scottish giants Celtic 7-1 at BVB Stadion Dortmund.
Now the Bundesliga side face their biggest challenge so far, as they take on a Real Madrid team that started their European campaign with a 3-1 home victory over Stuttgart before a shock 1-0 road defeat at Lyon.
Los Blancos have been formidable at home recently and the La Liga goliaths look capable of coming out on top against BVB again on Tuesday.
Dortmund have a host of players injured or struggling with illness, with the likes of Karim Adeyemi, Niklas Sule, Gio Reyna, Prince Aning, Paul Besong, Felix Irorere, Julien Duranville and Yan Couto potentially sidelined.
Meanwhile, Real have been looking strong in the Spanish capital of late, winning all of their six home games in all competitions this season.
Three of the last four games at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu have ended up with Los Blancos winning and both teams finding the back of the net.
That trend could continue on Tuesday, with BVB having the firepower to get on the scoresheet in Madrid but Real in the end having the quality to maintain their perfect home record this term.
Understandably Kylian Mbappe took a little time to adapt to his new surroundings at Real Madrid, but the France superstar is now looking more settled at Los Blancos and the goals are flying in for the former Monaco ace.
Mbappe especially seems to be enjoying the stage at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, as he has found the back of the net in four of his last five games there.
Scoring a brace against Real Betis, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward went on to score in the following home games against the likes of Stuttgart, Espanyol and Alaves.
Considering he bagged a brace last month against Betis and given his current form when playing in Madrid, Mbappe looks to be worth considering to score at least two goals against a Dortmund defense that has kept no clean sheets in its last five games in all competitions.
With Dortmund expected to get on the scoresheet on Tuesday, forward Serhou Guirassy provides their best opportunity of finding the back of the net.
The Guinea international has scored four Bundesliga goals in five appearances this term, while he has three UEFA Champions League goals after one against Club Brugge and a brace against Celtic.
With Adeyemi potentially sidelined, there’s extra onus on Guirassy to get on the scoresheet and the talented finisher is good value to deliver another goal here.
