Mexico and the United States men's national soccer teams renew their rivalry on Tuesday night when the pair meet in Zapopan.

The US are on something of a rough run, having won just once across their last five matches. Meanwhile, Mexico have drawn two of their last three games and suffered one defeat across their last five.

The US have also had home advantage in six contests across their seven-game unbeaten streak against Mexico. Their sole visit to Mexico in that run brought a 0-0 draw and they haven’t won on Mexican soil since 2013, so take this match to finish level.

While this game looks set to finish level, that shouldn’t mean we should expect a goalless affair. For starters, the US have had defensive issues lately which the hosts can take full advantage of. 

The USA have conceded in six of their last eight games, failing to keep clean sheets against Panama, Uruguay, Canada and New Zealand across their previous five. On the plus side, they have scored in four of their last five games with Mexico and their defensive problems point to them needing a goal to get anything from this game.

Clashes between these two tend to be close-run affairs so a thriller isn’t exactly on the cards, but there’s reason to believe that both teams can get on the scoresheet. A 1-1 draw is the standout correct score option and that holds plenty of appeal at +550.
