Panama plays its first ever CONCACAF Nations League final on Sunday when it faces Mexico at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. A shock semi-final victory over the United States sent Los Canaleros into the final, where they are seeking revenge.

Panama has inflicted plenty of pain on the USA of late as it has now beaten them three times over the span of 20 months. They also eliminated the Americans from the semifinals of the 2023 Gold Cup, only to fall to Mexico in the final. Will a similar fate befall Los Canaleros this weekend?

Mexico to win to nil (+120)

While Panama was overjoyed by the semifinal success, it was also a boost for Mexico. El Tri have been eliminated from all three editions of the Nations League by the USA, so that result cleared the way for Mexico to win this competition for the first time.

El Tri added a 12th Gold Cup crown with their 1-0 win over Panama in 2023 and they cruised to victory when these two met in this competition last March. 

Mexico are slowly building themselves back up after their streak of seven consecutive knockout-round appearances was ended in Qatar in 2022. With co-hosting duties for the 2026 tournament, Mexico will be looking for a strong showing this year, potentially lifting the Nations League trophy and retaining the Gold Cup this summer.

El Tri are well positioned for the former, as they have won all but one of the previous nine meetings between these two sides. They have won to nil in each of the last four encounters, while Mexico overcame Canada with a 2-0 victory in their semifinal. 

Each of Panama’s last five defeats in this competition have come to nil and Mexico are responsible for three of those losses, so back El Tri to win and keep a clean sheet.

This encounter is expected to be more comprehensive than the 2023 Gold Cup clash, so there’s value in backing Mexico -1 goal at +140. However, a 2-0 win for El Tri stands out here considering their impressive record of clean sheets against Los Canaleros.
