Los Angeles FC have already lifted the U.S. Open Cup, topped the Western Conference and now they are looking to add the MLS Cup to their impressive season.
They are taking on the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first round of this year’s play-offs, with the series balanced at 1-1 following the Canadian team’s 3-0 win last time out.
LAFC were 2-1 winners on home soil in the first game and both teams return to California to play this crucial final matchup of the series.
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami may have drawn plenty of the MLS headlines this year but Los Angeles FC have continued to impress in the Western Conference.
Steve Cherundolo’s men lifted the U.S Open Cup after getting the better of Sporting Kansas City 3-1 in the final and are now eyeing up a double as they chase the MLS Cup crown.
LAFC topped the West on goal difference in the regular season after finishing level on 64 points with city rivals LA Galaxy.
They had won seven games in a row in all competitions before their 3-0 loss to Vancouver in Game 2 and their home record makes favorable reading, winning 11 and losing just two of their 17 matches at BMO Stadium.
To add to that, Vancouver came into this year’s play-offs on a poor run and may struggle to match LAFC again here.
The Whitecaps had lost five of their last six games before their victory last time out and they lost six of their 17 regular season road trips.
Before the Game 2 success, LAFC had won the last five MLS meetings between these two teams, showing the issues that the Caps face in this decider.
Vancouver did well to keep themselves in the series last time, going 2-0 up within 13 minutes and running out 3-0 winners following Ryan Gauld’s strike and a pair of own goals.
However their overall record against these opponents and the general standard of LAFC’s squad means that hope may be thin on the ground for the visitors.

Both teams have scored in Vancouver’s last three defeats and both teams found the net in seven of LAFC’s last ten outings.
Take both teams to find the net in a home victory at +187 here.
High-scoring matches have been a feature of Los Angeles’ games this season, particularly the big ones, and this could be another.

The last five meetings between these two teams have produced at least three goals and it is not too much to ask for this to have four or more, particularly given the knockout nature of the game means that one or both teams may have to go for it at some point.
Take over 3.5 goals at +125.
Ryan Gauld has long been Vancouver’s star man and has shown that regularly in these playoffs, scoring five times.
The Scotland international is set to be on penalty duties and netted ten times in the regular season.
