Los Angeles FC vs. Seattle Sounders: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Two MLS teams who have represented the Western Conference in four of the last five MLS Cup Finals combined square off in the conference semifinals as Los Angeles FC hosts Seattle Sounders FC.

LAFC finished the regular season with a flourish, winning their final five games to top the Western Conference. They paired that with silverware in the US Open Cup, while the path to the MLS Cup is clearing for them, too.

With three of the top four sides in the Eastern Conference eliminated in the first round, LAFC now have guaranteed home advantage for the rest of the playoffs as a result of finishing the regular season with a better record than all the other remaining teams.

The Sounders beat the Houston Dynamo in the first round of the playoffs, but in this round, they face a forward who has caused them plenty of problems this year.

Los Angeles FC to win (-106)

Los Angeles FC are +187 favorites to lift the MLS Cup this year, which represents a huge shift following Inter Miami’s surprise elimination in the first round. LAFC had work to do to rebuild its roster following departures from the 2022 title-winning side, but they clicked into top gear at the business end of the campaign.

In all competitions, LAFC have won eight of their last nine games. While they suffered a 3-0 defeat away to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the last round, they took care of business in both home games which was enough to win the best-of-three series. 

LAFC won 11 of 17 regular season games at home, and they’ve come out on top in eight of their last 10 at BMO Stadium. They also have a fantastic record against Seattle, winning each of the last six meetings as well as the last four encounters in California.

Seattle have lost four times across three competitions against LAFC in 2024, including in the US Open semifinals and the Leagues Cup quarterfinals. Having already triumphed with the pressure on, back the Black and Gold to come out on top.

Denis Bouanga to score anytime (+137)

One man that the Sounders should be fearing here is Denis Bouanga following his 20-goal haul for LAFC in the regular season. The forward has just one goal to his name in the postseason so far, opening the scoring in their first clash with Vancouver.

However, Bouanga has scored in four of the last five meetings between these two sides.

The 2023 MLS Golden Boot winner struck twice in the last league clash between these teams back in July. He also capped off LA's 3-0 Leagues Cup victory over Seattle in August and then scored the only goal when the clubs met in the US Open Cup 11 days later.

Bouanga has a proven track record against Seattle and he’s a worthy favorite to find the net in this contest.

The forward has scored 28 times across all competitions this season. He’s a tempting +375 to open the scoring in what should be a low-scoring game, but he stands out in the anytime scorer market at +137.

Los Angeles FC to win 1-0 (+650)

While goals are favored in this contest, it’s worth noting that Seattle’s two matches in the last round featured just two goals in total. LAFC won by a single goal in their two home contests with Vancouver, while Seattle’s forwards have found it tough in recent games against LAFC.

LAFC have won to nil in five of the last six head-to-head games against Seattle, including each of their three clashes across the summer.

With Seattle losing to nil in visits to LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake and Portland Timbers this term, the hosts are worth backing for a low-scoring victory.

This should be a nervy affair given it’s a one-off game following the first round's best-of-three format, so back LAFC to claim a 1-0 win to move on to the Western Conference Final.
