LA Galaxy vs. New York Red Bulls: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls will meet in the 2024 MLS Cup Final at Dignity Health Sports Park in California on Saturday.

The Galaxy left it late to beat Seattle Sounders 1-0 in the Western Conference Finals - Dejan Joveljic seized on Riqui Puig's pass in the 85th minute and fired a low effort home from outside the 18-yard box - and are looking to lift the Cup for the first time since 2014.

New York beat Orlando City by the same scoreline in Florida as Andres Reyes headed in John Tolkin's free-kick from the right side shortly after half-time. The Red Bulls now head west looking to be crowned champions for the first time, having previously recorded a club-best finish as runners-up in 2008.

The pair haven't met in MLS since 2021 when then-Galaxy forward Javier Hernandez scored a hat-trick to see off NYRB 3-2.

After each stormed through the playoffs, it's now all to play for in the Golden State.

LA Galaxy vs. New York Red Bulls betting picks and predictions

LA Galaxy to win and both teams to score (+240)

MLS Cup Finals tend to be exciting, with both teams scoring in four of the last five. That eventuality is priced at -163 to happen again in the 2024 edition.

Six of the last seven Finals have also gone the way of the home team, so the Galaxy should be confident. They have won their last 10 games at home, a streak stretching back to their derby day defeat to Los Angeles FC in July, who beat the Galaxy to the top seed in the Western Conference thanks in part to that result.

After finishing seventh in the East, the Red Bulls have had to do it the hard way, beating reigning champions Columbus Crew, neighbors New York City FC, and Orlando City SC all on the road to make it into their second Final.

Sandro Schwarz has done a good job since replacing Gerhard Struber in late 2023. He will celebrate his one-year anniversary with the club a week after Saturday's Final.

Schwarz's side has scored in its last eight away games in MLS and can get on the scoresheet in Carson. However, it might be in a loss, with Galaxy looking a level above their title rivals.

Dejan Joveljic anytime goalscorer (+150)

The Galaxy has beaten the Colorado Rapids, Minnesota United and Seattle on their run to the Final, with Dejan Joveljic shining along the way.

While Gabriel Pec netted 16 times in the regular season, Joveljic has been ahead of his colleague in the playoffs, scoring five times.

Pec has kept things going with three strikes, the same as Joseph Paintsil, while teammate Puig - who suffered a torn ACL in the Western Conference Final and will miss the MLS Cup Final - has four in the postseason.

Galaxy have shared the goals around but Jovelijic is the pick on current form.

The 25-year-old came through at Crvena Zvezda and, after a spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, came Stateside in 2021.

His fifth goal in the postseason was the 85th-minute winner against Seattle and more optimistic bettors may again look at him to justify his +450 odds to score last, having also done so against Minnesota in the Conference Semifinals.

Half Time Result - LA Galaxy (+137)

They left it late against the Sounders but the Galaxy have strung together a run of strong starts. The team led at halftime against both Colorado and Minnesota.

At home, before the win over Seattle, LA had led at halftime in nine of 12 matches previously.

Galaxy manager Greg Vanney gets his roster riled up and ready to go out hard from the first whistle and put their opponent to the sword.

A home lead at the interval looks like a good price and a foreseeable outcome.
