Inter Miami vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Inter Miami have been the early pacesetters in the MLS this season, winning nine and losing just two of their opening 15 games to sit atop the Eastern Conference on 31 points with the league's best record.

Their star-studded squad includes the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets so it is no surprise that they have started so brightly and they will have the chance to extend their lead atop the East on Saturday night when they make the long trip to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps.

The 'Caps have started the season well enough, but a record 5-4-4 suggests they could be set for trouble against the league’s best side, even if Inter will have to travel over 3,400 miles to reach BC Place for a clash which will see the pair meet for the first time in history.

Inter Miami vs. Vancouver Whitecaps betting picks and predictions

Inter Miami to win (+145)

Inter Miami’s unbeaten run in MLS now stands at nine games following their victory over DC United last weekend. Given they have won six of their last seven matches, it seems likely they will see that undefeated streak reach double digits on Saturday.

Gerardo Martino’s men have been brilliant all season and their away record is impressive too. A surprise 4-0 loss at New York Red Bulls is the only major blemish on their road form, with Inter managing four wins and two draws in their other six away matches in MLS this term.

A 3-2 win at Montreal is included in that run which shows they can cope with trips north of the border just fine, suggesting Vancouver may be in for trouble against the Eastern Conference leaders despite the visitors’ lengthy commute.

The Whitecaps are winless in their last four matches, losing three times in that run with one of those defeats coming against relative minnows Cavalry in the Canadian Championship. That said, Vancouver didn't play many of their stars in that Canadian Championship match.

In MLS they are winless in five and could only manage a draw with Seattle Sounders - a team outside of the Western Conference play-off places - in their last outing.

Vanni Sartini’s side have won just two of their six MLS home games this term and given their recent loss to Cavalry came at BC Place, it is fair to assume their first ever meeting with Miami is set to end in defeat.

The likes of Messi and Luis Suarez are in frightening form and have helped Inter score 10 goals in their last four away league matches, which spells trouble for a Vancouver side who have managed just four clean sheets in their 13 MLS games this term.

Back Martino’s star-studded side to land an important three points in Canada on Saturday.

Half Time/Full Time: Tie - Inter Miami (+550)

While Inter are likely to get the job done in Vancouver, they may have to be patient in doing so.

The Whitecaps may not have kept too many clean sheets this term, but 'leaky' is not a word you could use to describe their defense. Sartini’s men have shipped just 15 league goals this term, less than four of the six teams above them in the West and five fewer than Miami themselves.

That resolute nature suggests they may have enough to frustrate Inter for at least the first period on Saturday, especially with the Herons likely to show some of the effects of a lengthy journey when they take to the pitch at BC Place.

Furthermore, Miami have been slow starters in the majority of their games lately. They have gone into the half-time break level in four of their last five MLS games, with the exception in that run actually seeing them trailing after 45 minutes.

Plus, Inter’s last four away games have been level after 45 minutes - Martino’s men went on to win three of those - and it could pay to back the Herons to start the second half drawing before going on to secure the points in Vancouver.

Luis Suarez to score (+137)

The 37-year-old Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez has 11 goals in his 14 league appearances this term. After two games without a goal, he could rediscover his shooting boots in Vancouver.

He had scored in his last three away games prior to Miami’s all-Florida clash with Orlando but his side’s chief creator, Messi, was absent for that derby, so Suarez was not granted his usual level of service.

Messi is back now and the ex-Barcelona pair could combine for some brilliance north of the border on Saturday, with El Pistolero fancied to fire the Herons to glory in Vancouver.
