Two juggernauts of women's soccer square up at Wembley Stadium on Saturday as England take on the USA in a highly anticipated friendly.
While the Lionesses are looking to find form ahead of their Women's Euros title defence next year, the USWNT has gone from strength to strength under new head coach Emma Hayes and claimed Olympic gold in Paris earlier in 2024.
But both teams head into this friendly encounter with key players missing and it is the kind of match which will test the depth of the two teams, and both managers could be tempted to experiment.
England lost 4-3 to Germany before a 2-1 win over South Africa during the previous international break, while the US cruised to comfortable wins over Iceland and Argentina at the end of October.
England Women looked vulnerable at the back in the most recent international break, falling 3-0 down to Germany after just 29 minutes in October.
They managed to pull themselves back into contention in the match, eventually losing 4-3, but that has to be cause for concern for manager Sarina Wiegman, especially as her side prepares to face the in-form USA.
Former Chelsea boss Hayes has made an immediate impact since taking charge of the USWNT, who are on a nine-game winning streak.
They are also unbeaten in their last 18 games and have sustained just one defeat in 2024.
There was a lot to like about the USA, especially based on their performance at the Olympics, and they should cope with their absentees better than England.
Mallory Swanson, Sophia Smith and Trinity Rodman are set to miss out for the visitors but they have capable attacking deputies, while England could lack pace in attack without Lauren Hemp or Ella Toone.
The Lionesses made hard work of their 2-1 win over South Africa last time out and, although this will be a more free-flowing game, they are still worth opposing.
Both of these teams are full of goals and the USWNT has scored at least three times in five of their last nine assignments, including each of the last three.
Goals are not usually a problem for England either, with Wiegman's side having plundered 25 goals in their 10 matches in 2024 so far, but they have also conceded 13 and have kept only two clean sheets in the calendar year.
The usually reliable centre-back pairing of Millie Bright and Leah Williamson has not been quite as effective for England recently. Whether Wiegman decides to rotate and deploy Alex Greenwood again or not, the Lionesses could be vulnerable.
With that in mind, a high-scoring win for the visitors looks likely, so back a USA victory and Over 2.5 goals at Wembley.
The absences of Swanson, Rodman and Smith are not ideal for the USA but they have plenty of players waiting to make their mark for the national team.
And Jaedyn Shaw could be worth a bet to score in this friendly at Wembley.
Shaw was part of the USWNT roster which won gold earlier this year and she has scored six times for her country in 2024.
She was on target in a 3-1 win over Iceland in October and is a promising talent for the San Diego Wave in the National Women's Soccer League.
This is an opportunity for her to make her mark on one of the biggest stages in women's soccer and she should capitalize on the opportunity.
