Canada vs. Guatemala: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Canada and Guatemala meet in the last eight of the Gold Cup on Sunday at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Canada kicked off the tournament with a resounding 6-0 win over Honduras, but the co-hosts have underwhelmed since, drawing 1-1 with Curacao - conceding a last-gasp equaliser - before securing top spot in Group B with a 2-0 win over El Salvador.

Guatemala overcame Jamaica and Guadeloupe in the opening round, as well as going down 1-0 to 2023 runners-up Panama, to finish second in their group. The Bicolor now face their biggest test so far and come into this game as the clear outsiders.

Canada vs. Guatemala betting picks and predictions

Canada to win and both teams to score - No (+100)

Canada are coming into this game after a pair of below-par displays, but they should have the quality to overcome Guatemala without too many issues. The Central American nation are currently in 106th place in the FIFA World Rankings - over 70 places below the Canadians - and there is a clear gulf in class between the two sides.

Since Jesse Marsch took charge of the Canucks last year, they have become a formidable defensive unit. Canada have three clean sheets in their last four games and five in their previous nine going back further, and have picked up notable wins over the likes of the USA and Ukraine during 2025.

Canada have only conceded one goal at the Gold Cup and that was an injury-time effort from Curacao. Meanwhile, Guatemala can struggle in attack when faced with a higher level of opposition and they have failed to score in four of their last five losses across all competitions.

Nathan-Dylan Saliba to score anytime (+500)

Canada’s Nathan-Dylan Saliba looks like a good outside candidate for an anytime goal after a strong tournament so far.

The midfielder was on target against both Honduras and Curacao but didn’t feature against El Salvador.

Saliba has managed one goal in MLS this season for Montreal and averages over an attempt per game in that competition, suggesting he may get a few opportunities in this last-eight tie against a Guatemala side the Canucks should be able to dominate.

The 22-year-old has recently secured a move to Europe after being signed by Anderlecht while this tournament is in progress, and he can continue his fine Gold Cup form by making it three goals in as many games when Canada face Guatemala.

Stheven Robles to be booked (+300)

Guatemala may have to adopt a physical approach in this game, particularly if Canada are able to dominate possession for large periods, and that could result in a few cards being dished out to the Bicoloro’s squad.

One clear contender for a booking is defender Stheven Robles, who has also been operating in midfield for his country over the course of the Gold Cup.

The 29-year-old has picked up one yellow card so far during this competition and he had 15 bookings and one red card in 34 games for Comunicaciones in Guatemala’s Liga National last season.

Robles is no stranger to a card at international level either, with eight yellow cards in 34 games for Guatemala, and he looks like a strong pick to be booked in this quarter-final match-up.
