Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Barcelona have lost six UEFA Champions League games in a row against Bayern Munich so will be determined to end that streak when the German giants arrive at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Barca's recent awful record against Bayern includes an 8-2 defeat in the quarterfinals of this competition in 2020 but the La Liga team look poised to finally get one over the Bundesliga side.

Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich betting picks and predictions

Barcelona win (+137)

Bayern Munich look to be back to somewhere near their blistering best in the Bundesliga but road trips in the UEFA Champions League are turning into something of a problem.

Despite heading the German league with a goal difference of plus-17 after just seven rounds of fixtures, it's in Europe where they need to prove their worth.

They kicked off the new group stage with a 9-2 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb, who were just the sort of team Bayern have a history of blowing out of the water. In game two, however, they went to Aston Villa and lost 1-0.

They carved out chances and Villa keeper Emi Martinez had a blinder, but the fact is they lost. And that's four successive UEFA Champions League away games now they have failed to win, losing three of those.

Now the pressure is on Bayern as they head for Barcelona and a reunion with two of their old friends, former head coach Hansi Flick and record goalscorer Robert Lewandowski.

And while Bayern ace Harry Kane is in good form, the man he replaced in Munich, Lewandowski, has been on a similar hot streak.

The Pole's double in Sunday's 5-1 annihilation of Sevilla made it 14 goals for the season, one more than Kane, who also had a fine weekend with a hat-trick in Bayern's 4-0 thumping of Stuttgart.

Like Bayern, Barca are also on three points with the win coming in game two, a 5-0 battering of Young Boys. The defeat was a 2-1 loss in Monaco where they were on the back foot from the moment Eric Garcia saw red after 10 minutes.

Bayern will try to play their customary aggressive style against Barcelona but it may not work for Vincent Kompany's men against an educated Barca team run by a manager who knows the German club very well.

And if Barca can weather an early storm, then the array of attacking options behind Lewandowski, with Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Ansu Fati, Pedri and others, makes the hosts really dangerous and a nice price at +137 to end a six-game losing streak against the German giants.

Joao Palhinha to be booked (+162)

Aleksander Pavlovic comes out of the Bayern midfield in Spain after breaking his collarbone against Stuttgart.

They boast a near like-for-like swap in Joao Palhinha, recruited from Fulham in the summer and set to be a busy man trying to repel Barca's tricky attackers.

Palhinha was both popular and effective at Craven Cottage but has had few chances to flourish at Bayern and show what he can do.

And one of the things he does best is break up play and put in tackles, which makes him susceptible to yellow cards.

Last season at Fulham he managed 13 Premier League yellows, the season before 14, so the +162 that he sees yellow in Catalonia looks to be one of the bets of the night.

Bayern Munich Over 4.5 Corners (-120)

Even if Bayern fail to beat Barcelona, they will still play their part in what should be an entertaining game, and they can win their share of corners.

It's with noting that Barcelona, head and shoulders above many teams in La Liga, are still giving away an average five corners per game domestically.

Bayern are averaging 6.7 in the Bundesliga, and they racked up 12 against Dinamo Zagreb and 11 at Aston Villa in their two UEFA Champions League ties to date.

Get on Kompany's boys to amass Over 4.5 corners at -120.
