It may still be too early to talk title deciders but there seems little doubt that one team is under a lot more pressure than the other when Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirates in the Premier League on Sunday.
Liverpool were perhaps expected to undergo some period of transition after Arne Slot took the reins following the departure of long-term boss Jurgen Klopp, but they could hardly have asked for a better start, winning 11 of their 12 games in all competitions so far.
The Gunners, with a more settled environment and seen as the greater threat to Manchester City's dominance, now find themselves under pressure and can ill-afford a slip up having fallen four points behind Liverpool after eight games, while they are six points off the champions following Pep Guardiola's side's 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.
While Arsenal have turned a corner in their head-to-head clashes with Liverpool, losing just one of the last five competitive meetings between the two while winning twice, there are just too many headaches for Mikel Arteta to ignore the +187 odds on a team that is in flying form and boasting a perfect record on the road.
The Gunners suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth last week, not helped by the dismissal of William Saliba admittedly but the France international will now be missing for Sunday's big game.
With Martin Odegaard already out through injury that is a massive double blow for Arteta against a title rival, while the situation may yet get worse with Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori both doubtful.
While the Gunners bounced back from the defeat against the Cherries with a 1-0 success over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, it was far from convincing and having been held by Brighton and Atalanta, while also needing stoppage-time goals to see off Leicester, it seems obvious that the hosts have not yet quite hit top gear.
That spells trouble against a Liverpool side that has swept all before them so far - a shock 1-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest aside - and done so with a defensive solidity that the Gunners would be proud of.
Slot's side have allowed a clear league-best of only three goals against them - they have also only conceded just one in three Champions League games - and with a healthy 15 league goals scored from their opening eight games, they are playing well at both ends of the pitch.
Although the Gunners won the corresponding fixture 3-1 last season, an out-of-form Liverpool still won 2-0 at the Emirates in the FA Cup and the Reds look great value to pick up three points on Sunday and return to the top of the table.
While Liverpool are playing away from home, there won't be too many times when there are +200 odds available for Mohamed Salah to find the back of the net in a game, and those odds look too big to ignore.
The Egypt international already has seven goals to his name this season, which includes four in his last six, and he looks worthy of consideration to add to those stats, particularly as he is also the first-choice penalty taker for Slot's side.
Salah has a more than decent tally of 10 goals in 16 games against Arsenal and although the bulk of those have come at Anfield, coming up against a far from full strength Gunners rearguard makes his odds very appealing.
Ibrahima Konate has seemingly secured his place at the heart of Liverpool's defence alongside Virgil van Dijk and is likely to start on Sunday, and he will be tested given that Arsenal will have their spells of pressure as the home favorite.
Konate won't have particularly fond memories of the Emirates having been sent off in last season's 3-1 defeat after collecting two yellow cards, but the fact is he is no stranger to the referee's notebook, perhaps not helped by playing on the same side as the offensively-minded Trent Alexander-Arnold.
After avoiding the referee's attention in any of his opening four appearances of the season, the France international has picked up four yellow cards in his next seven and it would surprise no one should he be booked again on Sunday.
