Argentina vs. Colombia: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Argentina will be aiming to continue their journey towards the 2026 World Cup finals by accounting for an out of sorts Colombia side in Buenos Aires.

Lionel Scaloni's men are on cruise control with a healthy lead atop the South American standings, with Colombia are 13 points adrift of them in sixth spot.

Argentina vs. Colombia betting picks and predictions

Argentina to win & under 2.5 goals (+240)

World champions Argentina have made short work of qualifying for next summer's tournament - they are already confirmed as group winners despite still having three games left to play.

Scaloni's men are in search of their fifth straight victory and they have gained three of their last four wins while keeping clean sheets, with only Brazil breaching them.

Of those four wins, three have come on 1-0 scorelines. Against Chile last time out Julian Alvarez put them ahead just beyond the 15-minute mark, but the scoring ended there, with Argentina's xG figure coming in at only 1.23 despite them having 66 per cent possession.

Colombia are winless in five games, with losses against Uruguay, Ecuador and Brazil before draws at home against Paraguay and Peru.

That contest against the Peruvians on Friday produced just one shot on target and not surprisingly ended scoreless.

La Tricolor head coach Nestor Lorenzo faces a tough challenge to get anything in his home country and a low-scoring loss may ensue.

Julian Alvarez to score first (+450)

Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez netted the only goal in Nunoa as Scaloni opted to leave Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez on the bench and fielded a youthful side against a Chile side propping up the table.

That win leaves the Albiceleste unbeaten in eight World Cup qualifiers and Alvarez will be pleased to have stepped up to the mark with star men Messi and Martinez watching on.

The 25-year-old ended his club season with two goals and two assists in his final two outings as he took his tally to 29 for the season for Atleti.

He also got the opener for Argentina in a 4-1 win over Brazil in March and, with his confidence up, he's taken to break the deadlock once more for La Selección here.

Team shots on target - Colombia under 3.5 (-120)

Colombia didn't muster a single shot on target in Friday's home stalemate with Peru. That was the second time in three games they have come in under 3.5 shots on target over 90 minutes.

Chile also came in below that line in their loss against Argentina on Friday, while the world champions restricted Brazil to just a single shot on target in that Superclasico win back in March.

With their qualification secured, Argentina may dominate the ball for long spells against a visiting Colombian side that would welcome a stalemate knowing the point may extend their advantage over Venezuela in seventh spot as they head for Uruguay.

Goalmouth action could be in relatively short supply and for the third time in four games, the Colombians may come in under 3.5 shots on target.
