The No. 13 SMU Mustangs (9-1, 6-0 ACC) are looking to make a late run into the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff, and they'll look to boost their case as favorites against the Virginia Cavaliers (5-5, 3-3 ACC).

SMU has quality wins over then-No. 22 Louisville and then-No. 18 Pittsburgh, and the team's one loss was to a BYU Cougars team that went undefeated until Week 12.

Virginia will be fighting to become bowl eligible for the first time in three years. They had an upset win over Pittsburgh two games ago, but that bright spot was stuck between blowout losses to North Carolina and then-No. 8 Notre Dame.
