Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani hit a home run and walked three times in his team's NLCS Game 4 win, and he'll look to lead his team to a series-clinching victory in Game 5.
Ohtani is in the middle of his first-ever trip to the MLB playoffs, and he has a 1.238 OPS against the New York Mets in the NLCS after struggling with a .623 OPS in the NLDS against the San Diego Padres.
The presumptive 2024 NL MVP has two home runs and five RBI in four NLCS games so far, and he has walked seven times in the series with just four strikeouts.
Ohtani started the postseason well with two hits, a home run and three RBI in Game 1 of the NLDS, but he only had two more hits – getting on base four times in total – in the next four games in the series.
In Game 1 of the NLCS, he went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI as the Dodgers won 9-0. He walked twice and went 0-for-3 in his one below-par game in the series, Game 2.
Since then, Shotime has hit a home run in each of the previous two games, with LA winning Game 3 8-0 and Game 4 10-2.
But Ohtani does not have a stellar track record against tonight’s Mets starter, David Peterson. Ohtani is 2-for-7 with one RBI, one strikeout, no walks and no extra base hits.
Peterson pitched 121.0 innings over 21 starts for an average of just under 6.0 innings per start, so there’s a chance Ohtani could face him more than a couple of times.
Ahead of a Game 5 which the Dodgers enter with a 3-1 series lead, let’s take a look at Shohei Ohtani’s odds, lines and player props.
