Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is +220 to hit a home run against the Chicago Cubs in the 2025 MLB season opener in Tokyo.
Ohtani, the reigning National League MVP, will look to start his eighth MLB season hot when the defending World Series champion Dodgers take on the Cubs in game one of a two-game set in Tokyo, Japan.
In an exhibition game vs. Nippon Professional Baseball’s Yomiuri Giants on Saturday, Ohtani belted a two-run home run to deep right field, much to the amazement of the 50,000-plus fans at the Tokyo Dome.

The 30-year-old is coming off arguably his most impressive season to date, and that is saying something.
In 2024, Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season, earning him a third-career MVP award and first in the NL. He finished the regular season with a mind-boggling 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases.
His record-setting campaign came in a year where he didn’t even pitch, which, up until 2024, was what separated Ohtani from the rest of the MLB and most every player in its history. Focusing on just one side of the plate, he turned in one of, if not the best season by a batter in the history of the sport.
In 2025, Ohtani will retake the mound as a starting pitcher, but the Dodgers shouldn’t have to rely on their superstar slugger to carry the load from the mound. Los Angeles undoubtedly boasts the best pitching staff in the MLB, now featuring two fellow Japanese superstars in Yoshinobu Yamamoto and rookie Roki Sasaki.
