Shedeur Sanders, the former quarterback of the Colorado Buffaloes, is one of the most polarizing prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he's still available to select ahead of day two.
The son of Colorado head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Deion Sanders put up impressive numbers in his two seasons as the starter under center in Boulder, but questions remain over his feel for the pocket, his athleticism, and the high volume of short passes he threw.
Still, his senior season numbers include a 74.0 completion percentage, 4,134 yards, and a 37-10 TD-INT ratio in 13 games — his completion percentage led all Division I QBs and his passing yards and TDs led the Big 12. He averaged 318.0 passing yards per game and finished eighth in Heisman Trophy voting.
Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft's second round, where a handful of teams with early picks still need a QB, let's look at Sanders' odds.
Number 33 Overall Pick | -120 |
Entering day two of the draft, Sanders is the favorite to be selected with the 33rd-overall pick — the first pick of the second round.
The Cleveland Browns own the 33rd-overall pick, and they elected not to select a QB with their first-round pick. Last season's starter, Deshaun Watson, suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in 2024 and aggravated it in the offseason, meaning the Browns have a pressing need for a signal-caller.
CLE Browns | -150 |
LV Raiders | +300 |
NO Saints | +550 |
LA Rams | +1000 |
NY Jets | +1000 |
PIT Steelers | +1200 |
The Browns are the favorites to pick Sanders in the 'Team To Draft' market ahead of the second round. As mentioned, they own the first pick of the second round and urgently need a QB.
The Las Vegas Raiders are the second-favorites to draft Sanders. They added Geno Smith as their starter this offseason, but head coach Pete Carroll and company may want to start planning for his successor.
Third in the market is another team that could use a QB for this season, the New Orleans Saints. Incumbent starter Derek Carr has a shoulder injury that has made his status for 2025 uncertain.
Tied for fourth in the Team To Draft Sanders market are the Los Angeles Rams and New York Jets. The Rams have Matthew Stafford entering his age-37 season, while the Jets signed QB Justin Fields to a stop-gap two-year deal this offseason.
