Scottie Scheffler is nine weeks away from reaching two full years consecutively ranked No. 1 the World Golf Rankings - a status he's held since March 27, 2022.
Despite having never finished in the top five in the Open Championship, he is the +500 favorite heading into the tournament.
Scheffler has been red-hot this year. He began with a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and the next week, he became the first-ever back-to-back Players Championship winner.
The New Jersey native continued his form at the Masters, which he won for the second time in his career. He followed that up a week later with a win at the RBC Heritage.
In June, Scheffler won the Memorial Tournament and Travelers Championship to become the sixth player in history to win six PGA Tour events before the start of July.
Scheffler's Memorial win meant he surpassed $24 million in earnings, breaking the record for PGA Tour earnings in a single season.
He has not competed at Royal Troon before, but Scheffler finished T8 in his first time at the Open Championship, in 2021. In the two subsequent years, he failed to break into the top-20.
