Real Salt Lake host the LA Galaxy on MLS Decision Day on Saturday.

Real Salt Lake was nearly completely out of playoff contention, but with three wins in their last four games, there is still a chance that the club can reach the MLS Cup Playoffs.

The LA Galaxy are also playing well during the final stretch of the season, and have four consecutive games without a loss.

Historically, Salt Lake have won six of the last 10 games against the Galaxy at home. LA sit two points above their Western conference opponent in the table, and will be playing with fire if they drop points away from home this weekend.

Just three points separate the Galaxy in seventh and Minnesota United in 12th, with the Colorado Rapids, Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders, and RSL in between.

The Galaxy are safe with a win, but if they tie or lose against Salt Lake their safety is not guaranteed.

With three points on Saturday, combined with one of Portland, Colorado, or Seattle dropping points, RSL will seal their spot in the playoffs. They can make the playoffs with a tie as long as Portland, Colorado and Seattle all lose.

A victory doesn't guarantee Salt Lake a playoff spot, but it would give them an excellent chance at doing so.
