Real Madrid Next Manager Odds: Xabi Alonso heavily favored

The Real Madrid managerial job is one of the highest-profile in the world, and with current manager Carlo Ancelotti having been in the job since 2021, club president Florentino Perez may look for a fresh face in the dugout.

Los Blancos are in the thick of the La Liga title race, sitting second on goal differential with the same number of points (60) as leaders FC Barcelona, who have a game in hand.

Standards at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu are always sky-high, so if Ancelotti ends the season without any silverware, Perez may decide that it's time to end the legendary Italian coach's second spell with the club.

But who could replace the man who has won five UEFA Champions League titles — three of which were with Real Madrid — and led the club to win last season's La Liga by a 10-point margin over Barcelona?

Here, we have the latest odds to become Real Madrid's next manager.

Xabi Alonso, the Spanish manager who led his current club, Bayer Leverkusen, to an undefeated title-winning season in the 2023/24 Bundesliga, is the favorite (-250) to be Real Madrid's next manager.

Over five seasons as a Real Madrid player, Alonso made 205 La Liga and UEFA Champions League appearances, winning one title in each of those competitions. He mostly uses a 3-4-2-1 formation which may not suit the current Los Blancos squad, but he deserves heavy consideration for the role as a former player with a strong coaching record.

Current AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is second in the betting (+400) to get the Real Madrid job.

His current club is punching way above its weight in the Premier League, and he has played a pivotal role in the development of players like Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert, Ilya Zabarnyi, Milos Kerkez and more.

At a rather distant third in the betting is a former Real Madrid manager who would be a surprise candidate, to say the least: Jose Mourinho (+1200).

Mourinho is currently managing Turkish side Fenerbahce, but he won three trophies (one La Liga, one Copa del Rey, and one Supercopa) in his tenure in Madrid which lasted from 2010 to 2013.

Next in the market, tied at +1600, are Zinedine Zidane and Jurgen Klopp.

Zidane is a Real Madrid legend as a player and a coach. His only coaching jobs have been at Real Madrid and its B team. He led the club to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga titles in his two stints at the club, from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2021.

Klopp most recently coached Liverpool, where he won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League once each while also leading the team to two more finals in the latter tournament. His teams have been known for a direct, high-pressing style throughout his time as a manager in both Germany and England.

Next in the odds are five managers, each with +2000 odds: Santiago Solari, Raul, Alvaro Arbeloa, Michel, and Massimiliano Allegri.

Solari, Raul, and Arbeloa have all played for and coached at Real Madrid. Michel has experience in La Liga with Rayo Vallecano, Huesca, and his current team, Girona. Allegri is one of the last decade's most successful managers in Italy's Serie A.

Julian Nagelsmann, Enzo Maresca, Antonio Conte, Edin Terzic, Fabian Hurzeler, Francesco Farioli, Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery are all +3300 to get the job, and Erik ten Hag has the longest odds of the listed candidates at +6600.
