NHL - US Sports: Rangers must keep foot on pedal

After taking a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Final Adam Fox says the New York Rangers must keep their foot on the pedal against the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Rangers, 2/5 to win the best-of-seven series and 14/5 to be crowned Stanley Cup Champions, became the first team to beat the Lightning back-to-back in the playoffs since the start of the 2020 post-season.

Job far from done

Gerard Gallant's men followed up a 6-2 win in Game 1 with a 3-2 victory in Game 2 on Friday, but Fox has warned from the Rangers' own experience that the series is far from over as it shifts to Tampa Bay on Sunday.

What: New York Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning, Eastern Conference Finals Game 3

Where: Amalie Arena, Tampa

When: 20:00, Sunday 5th June, 2022

How to watch: Premier Sports or bet365 Live Stream

Odds: NY Rangers 6/4, TB Lightning 10/17

New York found themselves 3-1 down in the first round to the Pittsburgh Penguins and in the second round, lost the first two games of the series to the Carolina Hurricanes before coming back to win both series in seven games.

The Rangers have won eight in a row at home, becoming the first team to do that in the playoffs since the Los Angeles Kings in 2013.

Perry glad to be on Lightning side

The 24-year-old Fox has scored at least two points in four straight games, the longest multi-point streak by a Rangers defenseman in playoff history.

He has 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in a seven-game point streak and 22 overall points (five goals, 17 assists) in the 16 post-season games.

Lessons learned

Fox said to the media: "We heard all year that [we weren't] really going to have playoff success. We said it all year, the belief in the room is high and the outside opinions don't really affect anyone.

"It's really exciting, but we were on the other side of it when we were down 2-0, so I think it's a good lesson for us not to take our foot off the gas."
