The No. 2 Texas Longhorns went 11-1 overall and 7-1 in the SEC during the regular season, and QB Quinn Ewers has been one of the main reasons why.
Ewers will lead his team this weekend in the SEC Championship against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs.
Texas, which is in its first season in the SEC after conference realignment, suffered its only loss of the season to Georgia in October by a 30-15 score. Ewers completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in that game.
In 10 games this season, Ewers completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 2,307 yards and a 24-7 TD-INT ratio. He missed a couple of games with an oblique injury, but he came up with big performances against Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky and Texas A&M late in the season.
Ewers best game was against a Florida team that went 7-5 overall but played the nation's sixth-toughest schedule. He put up 333 yards and five TDs in that game, which was his only game with 300+ passing yards this season after six such games last season.
By most assessments, Ewers seemed to regress from last year to this year and saw his NFL Draft stock fall as a result.
Can he pick things back up in the SEC Championship against Georgia ahead of what will be his second time playing in the College Football Playoff?
