The Boston Bruins are vastly outperforming expectations 10 games into the 2026-27 NHL season, currently holding the second best record in the Eastern Conference, and the fourth best record in the NHL (7-2-1, 15 points).
The Bruins are led by forward David Pastrnak, who was recently named the team captain, and accompanied by multiple young and talented skaters like Fraser Minten (22), James Hagens (19), Marat Khusnutdinov (24), and Matthew Poitras (22). Pastrnak leads the B's in points (12), scoring four goals and contributing 8 assists, while the youngsters have all provided at least five points so far this season.
The Bruins are good going forward, but they've been even more impressive at defending their own goal. Boston has allowed the fourth fewest goals per game (2.20) in the NHL, thanks to impressive play from netminder Jeremy Swayman. Swayman has the second most saves in the league (206), behind only Minnesota Wild goalie Jesper Wallstedt (216) who has played one more game.
The Nashville Predators have not been quite as successful to start the news season, winning only three of their first nine games. 36-year-old Steven Stamkos is still performing at a very high level for the Preds, leading the team with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists).
