Caleb Plant and Trevor McCumby will battle for the WBA interim super middleweight title on September 14.
The original fight scheduled for August 17 was postponed because McCumby suffered a bad cut over his right eye during training.

It had previously been scheduled for the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida before getting postponed.

The WBA interim super middleweight title will be on the line when Plant and McCumby clash in September. It is currently vacant.
Plant became the IBF super middleweight champion in January of 2019 by defeating Jose Uzcategui. He successfully defended the belt three times before losing to Canelo Alvarez in November of 2021.
Meanwhile, this is McCumby’s first title bid.
Whoever wins this bout will be on course to challenge either Alvarez or Edgar Berlanga depending on the outcome of that fight. Alvarez vs. Berlanga is the main event on this same card next month in Las Vegas.
Plant (6’1’’ with a 74’’ reach) heads into this matchup with a 22-2 record; 13 of his victories have come via knockout.
Following his loss to Alvarez, Plant made appearances in the fall of 2022 and the spring of 2023. He went 1-1 in those matches, beating Anthony Dirrell before succumbing to David Benavidez. He has since been away from the ring for 18 months.
Part of the reason for the 32-year-old's longest layoff of his career is that his promoter, Premier Boxing Champions, was in ongoing discussions for a new broadcast contract with Prime Video.
Plant had reportedly been eager to get back in the ring this past December, but those plans were put on hold.
The Tennessee native has said that his goal in this comeback is to become a two-time champion.
He will accomplish that feat if he is successful against McCumby on September 14. It would also make him one of the eventual mandatory challengers to Alvarez.
McCumby (6’0’’ with a 74’’ reach) is sporting a perfect 28-0 record in advance of this fight. He has delivered a knockout 75 percent of the time (21 KOs).
McCumby has twice been out of boxing for prolonged periods.
The Illinois native returned after 18 months away for two bouts in 2018 before once again disappearing from the sport.
McCumby took four and a half years off, although it likely would have been less if a knee injury had not derailed his comeback plans.
The 31-year-old produced a pair of knockouts in May and June of 2023 and most recently won a bout by unanimous decision in January.
