Two teams with new starting quarterbacks meet in Week 1 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, now led by Russell Wilson, meeting Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons.
The Steelers let last year's season-opening starting QB Kenny Pickett leave in the offseason, and they signed Wilson and fellow QB Justin Fields on one-year deals with each on a salary below $3.5 million.
On the other end of the QB salary spectrum, the Falcons gave Cousins a four-year, $180 million deal less than six months after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Then, they doubled down by drafting former Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth-overall pick in April's draft.
Both teams will want to get their respective new eras off to a good start, and both veteran starters under center need to begin the season in strong form to prevent fans from calling for the younger backups.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons will be broadcast on FOX, which can be viewed through linear or cable TV and streamed on live TV streaming apps such as YouTubeTV and FuboTV.
Streaming will also be available on NFL+, which requires a paid subscription.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons is scheduled to start at 1 PM ET on Sunday, September 8 with the game taking place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
