The Philadelphia 76ers enter the 2024/25 season with a new-look roster surrounding stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, and the team will look to get past the second round of the playoffs for the first time since the days of Allen Iverson.
The Sixers added a third star in Paul George to go with Embiid and Maxey. In theory, George provides the high-level, do-it-all wing that the Sixers have lacked since Embiid has been on the team.
In addition, Philly also added Eric Gordon, Guerschon Yabusele, Caleb Martin and Andre Drummond, while they held onto Kelly Oubre, Kyle Lowry, KJ Martin and Ricky Council IV from last year's roster. In the draft, they got former Duke guard Jared McCain and former UCLA center Adem Bona.
The Sixers are coming off a 47-35 season in which Embiid was held to just 39 regular season games. He had arguably his best season until he went down with a meniscus injury, as he was averaging career highs in points (34.7) and assists (5.6) while grabbing 11.0 rebounds and blocking 1.7 shots per game.
Philly, in its first season under Nick Nurse, was the best team in the NBA at taking care of the ball in 2023/24 with a 10.7 turnover percentage, and they ranked in the top five in steals, free-throw percentage, fewest turnovers committed and most turnovers forced.
Ahead of what should be a compelling 76ers season with a new-look starting five that projects to consist of Maxey, Oubre, Martin, George and Embiid, let's take a look at the team's odds in the major markets.
