Paul Pogba's Potential Next Team - Linked to MLS

Paul Pogba is in talks with AS Monaco to reach a financial settlement and terminate his two-year contract with the club. We'll take a look at the MLS clubs that are keen on signing the former World Cup champion.

In 2023, Paul Pogba received a four-year suspension for doping, but his ban was reduced to 18 months, making him eligible for competitive soccer again in March 2025. The French midfielder terminated his contract with Juventus and signed with AS Monaco.

Pogba made his debut for Monaco in a 4-1 loss to Stade Rennais FC on 22 November 2025, entering the field as a substitute in the 85th minute. He proceeded to play only five more games for the Ligue 1 club, tallying a total of 115 match minutes.

The 33-year-old has made 429 professional appearances for three different teams (Manchester United, Juventus, and AS Monaco) in his career, scoring 73 goals and contributing 91 assists. He also made 91 appearances for the France national team, including 11 World Cup games (2014 and 2018).

The French international will now look to find a new team before his career concludes, and MLS clubs are eager to sign the player, whose name alone carries significant weight.

Paul Pogba's Potential Next Club

DC United

D.C. United

D.C. United own Pogba's "discovery rights", meaning the club has exclusive rights to hold direct talks with the player and his agent. D.C. currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference and could use an injection of quality in their midfield to supply forwards Tai Baribo and Louis Munteanu.

D.C. could also trade these discovery rights to another MLS team, a common practice often involving cash considerations.

New York City FC

New York City FC (NYCFC) is another team rumored to have an interest in Pogba. The club has a history of acquiring star players from Europe near the end of their careers, with the likes of Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, and David Villa all joining the team in the mid-2010s.

NYCFC is keen on bringing big names back to the club ahead of the unveiling of their new stadium, Etihad Park, in Queens, which is scheduled to open in July 2027. Pogba could be the marquee signing the club is looking for.

CF Montreal

CF Montréal signed Alexis Sánchez earlier this month, and the club could look to pair the 37-year-old Chilean legend with Pogba. The two veterans are former teammates from their Manchester United days, and a reunion could be on the cards.

Pogba could fit right in at CF Montréal, as it is the only city in MLS where French is the primary language.

Other Teams Interested

Other MLS teams that could enter the Pogba sweepstakes include LAFC, Sporting Kansas City, and the Colorado Rapids.

While Colorado and Kansas City may not be as attractive destinations as Los Angeles, they possess the capital and roster space to table a lucrative offer. If Pogba prioritises joining a winning team, LAFC appears to be the most likely destination.
