Bet365 will sponsor four category one Greyhound competitions over the next few months; two at Towcester and two at Oxford. Pat Cooney previews Sunday's bet365 Empress Stakes.
The first competition starts this Sunday at Towcester with the bet365 Empress Stakes.
Following this the next competition comes in November, also at Towcester, for the bet365 Puppy Oaks. A Four bend competition, another category one meeting, that’s one I’m really excited for.
Then we go down to road to Oxford in December, another category one, this time over their 650m trip, one that will be very much of interest to the stayers.
Staying at Oxford we have a puppy competition over the four bends in the New Year. Yet another category one.
That’s four category ones that we are delighted the put our name to, they’re all four round competitions and there will be plenty of talent on show.
It all starts on Sunday afternoon, the first race is at 1.57 at Towcester, that’s the first of eight heats of the bet365 Empress Stakes that we sponsor.
As a sponsor you always hope to get the glamour names in the competition and none more so that the aptly named Fabulous Azurra, who has entered the competition and will be a red hot favourite to win outright.
She has rather a favourable draw as well so I’d expect her to be odds on, how good is she? Well, she’s won her last eight races in a row and she does look an absolute aeroplane. She also has a victory over last year’s derby winner to her CV, she’s going to be very tough to beat, expect her to go a long way in this competition.
Second favourite is a bitch called Makeit For Waz, she’s won eight of her last nine races so she’s pretty talented as well. From an Each Way angle, will they make it to the final, will they stay on and keep qualifying? She’s actually one over further, so you could certainly see her going a long way in this competition.
All four rounds will be every Sunday, the final is at the end of the month at Towcester. It should be great fun such a talent packed field assembled, and that should be the case in the other three competitions that we sponsor as well.
