Liga MX side Pachuca meet Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Bundesliga in Group H play at the Club World Cup on Wednesday.
Pachuca endured a difficult 2024/25 campaign in Liga MX, including a 16th place finish in Apertura before reaching the play-in round in Clausura.
Tuzos qualified for the Club World Cup by winning the 2024 CONCACAF Champions League, and will be channeling their experience in knockout competition to carry them through a difficult Group H that also features Real Madrid and Al Hilal.
Salzburg qualified for the Club World Cup via strong performances in recent UEFA Champions Leagues, including a trip to the Round of 16 in 2021/22.
The Austrian side parted ways with former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders midway through the 2024/25 season and replaced him with Tomas Letsch, who led the club to a second-place finish in the Austrian Bundesliga’s championship round.
