One of the biggest awards that will be handed out at the 97th Academy Awards is Best Actress.
Let’s take a look at the odds to see who will take home the Oscar.
Demi Moore (The Substance) | -250 |
Mikey Madison (Anora) | +175 |
Fernanda Torres (I'm Still Here) | +1400 |
Karla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Perez) | +3300 |
Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) | +3300 |
Demi Moore has been the favorite to win this award since winning the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Her performance in The Substance also got her a huge win at this past Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards for Female Actor in a Motion Picture, along with a win at the Critics Choice Awards earlier this month.
Moore was a heavy favorite as of February 15, when she was -333 to take home the award, but a big win for Mikey Madison at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTAs) has created a situation where anything could happen come Oscars Night on March 2.
Moore’s SAG win has launched her back into a good spot as a -250 favorite. The Anora star was the favorite up until January, but her odds got longer and longer as Moore racked up wins. The SAG win has given Moore some momentum, but it’s still anybody’s guess who will take home Best Actress on Sunday night.
Not out of the race yet is I’m Still Here star Fernanda Torres, who took home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama back in January. Torress is +1400 to take home the Oscar on March 2.
The two long shots are Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo and Emilia Perez’s Karla Sofia Gascón, both at +3300. Neither have made much traction in the race during awards season.
The Best Actress race is historically one of the most competitive races at the Academy Awards, and this year is expected to be no different.
