Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New Orleans Pelicans Game 3: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The New Orleans Pelicans are in must-win territory down 2-0 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in this series. They battled in Game 1, losing by just two points, but Game 2 was a blowout with the Thunder coming out with a 124-92 victory.

The Pelicans return home in an attempt to save the series, but home advantage may not be everything for the hosts. With star man Zion Williamson out, hope is fading for the Pels.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New Orleans Pelicans Game 3 betting picks and predictions

Chet Holmgren Over 26.5 Points and Rebounds (-110)

The key battle in this clash is between the respective centers, OKC’s Chet Holmgren and the Pelicans’ Jonas Valanciunas. The Thunder aren’t regarded as a strong rebounding team, but they dug in during Game 2 to edge the battle on the glass.

Holmgren was key in the Game 2 victory, producing 26 points and grabbing seven rebounds to help his team to a comfortable win. While Holmgren was expected to struggle matched up with the more physical Valanciunas, the Thunder have done well to get him into good spots.

He’s taken six three-point shots in each of the first two games and the Rookie of the Year contender put on an efficient display in the last matchup. Given the importance of him getting rebounds, back him to have over 26 combined points and boards.

Oklahoma City Thunder -4 (+120)

The Pelicans have now lost four consecutive meetings with the Thunder, with the top seed in the West seeming to have figured out New Orleans on their way to a big Game 2 win.

Home advantage isn’t much of a boost to the Pelicans’ hopes of bouncing back, as they finished with a 21-19 record at the Smoothie King Center. They picked up 28 wins on the road, so losing their opening two games away from home is a bad omen for the Pels.

Oklahoma won both visits to New Orleans this season, producing a 107-83 win in January before their 119-112 victory at the end of last month. The Thunder look to have figured their opponents out and a Pelicans side which has lost four out of their last five is worth taking on.

Brandon Ingram Under 16.5 points (+270)

With Zion Williamson out, the Pelicans would have expected Ingram to step up and lead the team. However, he’s been underwhelming since returning from injury. He posted 13 points in the season finale against the Lakers, dipping to 11 in the Play-In Tournament rematch two days later.

In this series, Ingram has posted 12 and 18 points across the first two games. He shot just 29% from the field in Game 1, while he had only 10 shots in Game 2. His efficiency ticked up in the last game, but the Pelicans’ poor home record suggests he could go backwards in this encounter.

With Ingram looking uninvolved in the two home meetings with the Lakers, take him to finish up with 16 points or fewer on Saturday.
