NYCFC hosts Atlanta United in an Eastern Conference clash on Thursday night to kick off the second half of the 2025 MLS season.
Both sides sit outside the playoff picture entering Thursday’s match, with NYCFC 10th on 25 points and Atlanta 13th on 17 points.
New York will be missing key players out on international duty, including top scorer Alonso Martinez and goalkeeper Matt Freese. Atlanta is also expected to feature a rotated squad, with 12 players called up to their international teams in recent weeks. Head coach Ronny Deila noted this week that he will likely rotate his squad to account for his players who featured for their countries.
The last time these two sides met brought fireworks, with Atlanta winning 4-3 on March 29.
