Notre Dame Football Odds: Win Total, CFP, National Championship

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish enter the 2024 College Football season ranked seventh in the nation, and they open the season with a visit to a ranked opponent, Texas A&M.

Despite the difficult opening test, the outlook for the Irish this season is positive. That's thanks to the transfer addition of former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard, as well as the fact that head coach Marcus Freeman now has two solid seasons in South Bend under his belt.

In 2023, Notre Dame was one of the best teams in the nation on both sides of the ball. Freeman led his team to finish seventh in both points scored per game (39.2) and points allowed per game (15.9) as it went 10-3 on the season.

As an independent, Notre Dame stands to benefit from the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. The Fighting Irish made the four-team version just twice, in 2018 and 2020, losing in the semifinals both times.

Here, we have all the odds for Notre Dame ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Notre Dame Regular Season Win Total O/U

  • Over 10.5: +150
  • Under 10.5: -185

Notre Dame is one of six teams to enter the season with a total wins line in the double-digits, along with Georgia, Liberty, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas.

Clearly, oddsmakers think the Fighting Irish will be one of the top teams in the nation once again. Notre Dame only faces three teams who begin the season ranked in the top 25, and that could help the team's record by the end of the season.

Notre Dame CFP Odds

  • To Make the Playoffs: -170
  • To Miss the Playoffs: +140

Notre Dame is among the teams with the shortest odds to make the first edition of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. The Fighting Irish are one of a few teams with shorter odds to make the Playoff than to miss, along with Georgia, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon and Texas.

Notre Dame National Championship Odds

  • To Win Outright: +2200

At 22/1, Notre Dame has the joint-eighth shortest odds to win the National Championship this season. The only teams with shorter odds are Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss and LSU, while Penn State are level with the Fighting Irish.

The trio of transfer WRs - Jayden Harrison, Beaux Collins and Kris Mitchell - who arrived this offseason should make the team fun to watch, and the returns of defensive playmakers Xavier Watts and Benjamin Morrison will keep the defense strong.
