Nikola Jokic: Player Props, Odds, Lines for 10/24 vs. Thunder

Reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets take on another team that is among the favorites to win the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in both teams' season opener.

Jokic won his third MVP Award last season as a result of averaging 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, 9.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks over the course of the 2023/24 campaign. He enters this season as the +400 joint-second MVP favorite alongside one of tonight's opponents, the Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Nuggets were disappointed to lose in the second round of the playoffs in 2023/24 after they won the 2022/23 NBA Championship, so the Joker may be out for revenge this time around.

In his three regular season games against the Thunder last season, Jokic averaged 23.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.0 steals as Denver went 1-2 in those games. Jokic missed the team's fourth and final game against OKC last season, which the Nuggets lost by five points.

The four returning members of Denver's starting five from last season - Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon - are all in their late 20s, which means the time for them to win is now. The Thunder, meanwhile, have one of the youngest rosters in the league and time on their side as a result.

Denver will want to make a statement in this game to remind the West who the team to beat is. That's easier said than done considering OKC wants to further prove it is ready to compete for championships after finishing first in the West last season.
