Nic Scourton Injury Update: Panthers Pass-Rusher Carted Off in Training Camp

Carolina Panthers second-year EDGE rusher Nic Scourton was carted off the field during Thursday's practice - the first day of training camp.

Scourton was unable to put any pressure on his right leg and the injury seems significant, according to NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe.

The 2025 second-round draft pick had lots of promise coming into the year and was expected to be part of a two-headed monster at the EDGE position alongside the newly-acquired Jaelan Phillips.

Head coach Dave Canales spoke with reporters after practice and confirmed that Scourton suffered a right knee injury and is scheduled to undergo additional testing to determine the severity later this afternoon.

The 21-year-old out of Purdue and Texas A&M finished with a team-leading five sacks, seven tackles for loss, and a forced fumble in just eight starts in his rookie year last season.

The Panthers invested a significant portion of their cap space available towards defense this offseason, adding linebacker Devin Lloyd for $42 million and Phillips to a $120 million deal. They'll need Princely Umanmielen and Patrick Jones II to step up in place of Scourton.
