The thrilling second-round series between the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars continues with Game 6 in Texas on Saturday night. What started as a back and forth series, turned into a commanding 3-1 series lead for the Stars. However, in Game 5 on home ice, the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Jets showed they were not backing down easy, in what was a 4-0 thumping to make it a 3-2 series.
Now the series returns to Dallas where the Stars have been incredible. Winnipeg has had more downs than ups on the road during these playoffs, but with their backs against the wall will they be able to rise to the challenge and force a Game 7?
No matter how this one plays out, we are in for an incredible matchup. To get you ready for Game 6 of this Western Conference series, we are here to provide our expert Jets vs. Stars predictions, as well as the betting odds for the game.
Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars betting picks and predictions
This game is going to provide fireworks throughout the entire matchup. Drama is at an all time high as two teams clearly capable of success are clashing. The building will be rocking, especially when the game kicks off.
The Winnipeg Jets will have a main goal in the first period, which will be to try to suck the energy out of the building. If they can score an early goal, momentum will be fully in their hands which they could use to ride on the rest of the game.
As for Dallas, energy will be high, but they need to make sure they get the job done as opposed to hitting the road for a major Game 7. Urgency will be ramped up with this group, and I expect their legs to be moving early and often.
Both teams are elite and will make sure they have their best foot forward. Early on in this game I expect a lot of back and forth action as each team looks to set the tone, and whether we see goals or not, I expect to head into the second period with a tie.
As playoff series’ and playoff games go deeper, it tends to result in lower scoring games. Out of the five games in this series, the total has gone under in four of them. In an all-important Game 6, I think we see another low-scoring effort, giving us a fifth under.
Both goaltenders in this series have shown flashes of brilliance, but as of right now they are both locked-in. Dallas’ Jake Oettinger has given up just 11 goals in the series (2.2 per game) and posted a strong .912 save percentage in their blowout loss in Game 5. The young goaltender has been brilliant and I expect the same on home ice in this one.
Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck now has two shutouts in the series, and while he has been a little inconsistent, particularly on the road, there is no denying his overall ability. Confidence should be high, and the likely Vezina Trophy winner should have another solid performance in a do-or-die game.
Both teams play a heavy and defensively-sound game, making each other earn absolutely every inch. They have each had their own hiccups, but at the end of the day they are both extremely strong and should be well-prepared to leave it on the line. I expect grit and physicality to take over the game, giving us the under.
