Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars Game 4: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Having split the opening two games at the Canada Life Centre, the Dallas Stars hold the advantage over the Winnipeg Jets after winning the opening game at the American Airlines Center of this second-round series and will look to take a step closer to the Western Conference finals in Tuesday night's Game 4.

The Jets will be desperate to tie things up before the series returns to Winnipeg for Thursday's Game 5 but face a tall order in securing the win that would make it 2-2.

Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars Game 4 betting picks and predictions

Dallas Stars -1.5 (+175)

The Dallas Stars had to take at least one game in Winnipeg to advance to the Western Conference finals and they wasted little time in achieving that first goal by winning Game 1, even if they were shut out in the very next game.

Back on home ice for Game 3, the Stars re-established control of the series with a convincing 5-2 success and they can extend their advantage on Tuesday with room to spare.

While the Jets won the Presidents' Trophy and are therefore dangerous to rule out, they have not been as dominant in the postseason so far, and have struggled massively on the road in particular.

Winnipeg were taken to a game seven by the St Louis Blues in the first round and a big worry is not just that the Jets lost all three road games, but they were well beaten in each - losing 7-2, 5-1 and 5-2 to the team that took the second wild card.

That poor run continued in this series with a 5-2 defeat at the American Airlines Center on Sunday, which came on the back of what should have been a confidence-boosting 4-0 shutout win - and Scott Arniel's men have simply been unable to put it together on the road.

There is a little more desperation this time around as they no longer have the top-seed advantage after losing Game 1 at home, but fifth time is not always a charm and they look vulnerable.

The form of Connor Hellebuyck is particularly concerning for Winnipeg as his postseason numbers are a far cry from the regular season - posting a 3.51 goals against average and a mere .848 save percentage, which get much worse on the road.

The two-time Vezina Trophy winner, perhaps soon to be three, allowed 16 goals from 66 shots in three games in St Louis and was pulled in each, to post a 5.333 GAA and .758 save percentage in the first round. His first game in Dallas saw him beaten five times from 26 shots (.808%) and, like his team, he is struggling massively away from home-ice comforts.

The Jets have yet to score more than two goals on the road while allowing at least five in all four games played and Dallas - winners of four out of five home games in the playoffs so far, the last three of which have been by at least two goals - can capitalize once again in Game 4.

Cole Perfetti Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-120)

The pressure is on Winnipeg going into Game 4 and it won't be for a lack of effort that they won't win this game, and Cole Perfetti looks worth considering to test Jake Oettinger in the Dallas net on at least a couple of occasions.

While 22 shots on goal in 10 games looks good to cover, it is also worth noting that he has offered more shot production on the road up to this point with 11 in four games away from the Canada Life Centre.

That includes two in the Game 3 loss and another two on Tuesday night looks more than attainable given the series situation for Winnipeg.

Mikko Rantanen Anytime Goalscorer (+135)

Mikko Rantanen may have made a slow start to the postseason - registering one assist in the first four games in the first round against his former team Colorado - but he has been sensational since and is now listed at +500 to win the Conn Smythe Trophy, behind only +450 favorite Connor McDavid.

The 28-year-old Finn has registered 17 of his 18 playoff points in the last six games, which includes two hattricks among his nine goals and eight assists.

Rantanen has scored at least one goal in five of his last six games, while one of his hattricks came in Game 1 of this series. He, like the Stars, was kept off the scoreboard in the 4-0 defeat in Game 2, but bounced back with a goal and two assists in the home opener of this series on Sunday.

It is often folly to ignore the obvious and his scintillating form is the reason why Dallas splashed out to both land him from Carolina before signing him to a massive contract. At +135 to light the lamp, Rantanen looks worth considering.
