Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins Game 7: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

For the second straight season, the Boston Bruins have been taken to a Game 7 in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by a divisional rival.

This time, it’s the Toronto Maple Leafs, and to get you set for this winner-take-all matchup, we've shared our Maple Leafs vs Bruins best bets.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins betting picks and predictions

Under 5.5 goals (-125)

This will be the sixth Game 7 between these two franchises, which is tied for the second-most between any two teams. After all, these are two of the Original Six, which makes the contest even more exciting.

If history tells us anything, the Bruins are set to close things out on home ice, as the Leafs have been dreadful in Game 7’s.

The Bruins’ case will be helped if Toronto superstar Auston Matthews misses out again, however, given the fact Boston have a habit of collapsing of late, the better play here is to focus on the total and another low-scoring game is anticipated.

Thursday night’s Game 6 featured just three total goals. It was 0-0 until less than a minute remained in the second period, and the final two goals were scored with just a couple of minutes remaining in the entire game. An absent Auston Matthews only further supports a case for a low-scoring game.

On top of all that, one of the primary reasons that the Bruins haven’t been able to close out the series has been their power play. They haven’t found the back of the net with that unit since Game 4, and we haven’t seen more than four goals scored since Game 3. Therefore, we’re predicting the under to hit for the fifth time in this series.

Tyler Bertuzzi 2.5 shots on goal (-110)

There is no shortage of star power on the ice in this series. Even without Matthews, there is William Nylander, John Tavares and Mitch Marner for the Leafs, not to mention David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand for the Bruins.

While those household names may garnish most of the attention, and rightfully so, Tyler Bertuzzi also deserves a mention. The longtime Detroit Red Wing actually went to the Boston Bruins last year before heading up to Toronto this past offseason.

He has been trying to get revenge against his former team by firing shots on Jeremy Swayman between the pipes, and frankly, it’s surprising to see both a great line and price for his shots on goal prop. It’s set at just 2.5 shots, which he’s gone over in four of the six games in this series.

This is even more valuable if we don’t see Matthews available, which is more likely than Leafs fans would like. Even still, Bertuzzi is among the top favorites to score a goal, so we’ll gladly take his shots on goal prop at great odds.
