Tampa Bay Lightning will look to draw level at the top of the Atlantic by extending their win streak against Vegas Golden Knights to four games at the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday night.
The Bolts are third in their division, just two points behind Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs above them but having played a game less, and they will be desperate to turn up the heat as the race to close out first place nears the finishing line.
That's not to say the Golden Knights have nothing to play for as they will look to consolidate top spot in the Pacific, currently three points clear of Edmonton Oilers, having played a game less, although Los Angeles Kings are just two points further back with a game in hand.
With plenty at stake for both teams, there is sure to be no let-up in intensity or excitement in Sunday's clash - but who will come out on top?
There is little to split these two in previous meetings with Vegas holding the edge with seven wins to six, although recent momentum is with the Lightning as they have won the last three head-to-heads, including a 4-3 win at the Amelie Arena in this season's first meeting in October.
Only four of the 13 previous games between these two have seen a winning margin of more than one goal to further highlight how evenly matched they are and that is reflected in the odds with the Golden Knights the marginal favorites.
These are two of the best offenses in the league with Tampa Bay ranking second with an average of 3.49 goals per game, while Vegas is fifth with 3.36.
But that production doesn't come at a defensive cost with both averaging 2.68 goals allowed (tied seventh) so an argument could be to side with the underdogs, particularly given their win streak, which includes a 5-3 win at the T-Mobile Arena last season.
However, with little to split the two in so many ways, home-ice advantage could be the key and the preference is to side with Vegas to come out on top.
The Lightning have scored more goals and allowed fewer than both the Panthers and Leafs and have the best home record of the three, but they have struggled on the road comparatively, with a 16-16-3 record.
Now they must travel to Nevada to try and knock off the Golden Knights in what has been a fortress of the NHL, with only Carolina Hurricanes having won more games on home ice.
Vegas has lost just seven of 36 games at the T-Mobile Arena in regulation, winning 26, and go into the game looking for a third successive win on their return to the venue, having beaten Boston Bruins 5-1 and Detroit Red Wings 6-3.
Tampa Bay saw a three-game win streak come to an end with a 6-4 defeat in Utah on Saturday night, and have won only two of their last six road games - taking down the house will not be easy and given the odds, Vegas looks the pick.
Jake Guentzel has slotted nicely into Tampa Bay's lineup, filling the void left by Steven Stamkos' departure in the offseason in expert fashion. He is currently tied for first with Brayden Point in the team's goalscoring stats with 34, while he is fourth with 67 points and fifth with 33 assists.
While he may tempt some at odds of +170 to find the net on Sunday night, his recent form has been something of a concern.
Guentzel did score a goal and provide two assists in the 6-4 defeat in Utah, but had only registered one point in his previous six games.
However, his drop in production is not for a lack of effort and he has registered 34 shots on goal in his last nine games, ramping up to 20 in his last four.
The 30-year-old has let off at least four in each of those four games, and another three on Sunday night is well within his reach, having done so in the season's first game between these two.
Given his stellar performances so far this season, backing Jack Eichel to provide an assist is almost a no-brainer, given he is tied third in the NHL with 64 so far. The former Buffalo Sabres' ace is also tied fifth with 86 points and his importance to the Golden Knights can't be overstated.
And after a relatively fallow February, perhaps with a focus on the 4 Nations Face-Off, Eichel has been racking up the points in March - registering at least one in all but one of the 10 games so far, while he has contributed at least one assist in eight of those same games.
He scored a goal and offered up three helpers in the 6-3 win over Detroit on Saturday to take his monthly tally to 16 points - 13 of which have been assists. Another could easily be on the cards.
