The Florida Panthers are 2023/24 Stanley Cup champions. What are their odds to repeat next year?
In what was one of the most thrilling playoff series of all time, the Panthers staved off Connor McDavid and the Oilers in Monday night’s Game 7 to win their first cup in franchise history.
Florida led the series 3-0, but dropped three-straight games before clinching the title in a 2-1 win at home in Game 7.
With the 2023/24 NHL season officially in the rearview, let’s assess the current odds to win the cup a year from now.
Edmonton Oilers | +700 |
Dallas Stars | +900 |
Carolina Hurricanes | +900 |
Florida Panthers | +900 |
Colorado Avalanche | +1000 |
New Jersey Devils | +1000 |
New York Rangers | +1200 |
Toronto Maple Leafs | +1500 |
Edmonton, powered by the best player in the world in McDavid, is the +700 favorite to lift the cup in 2025. The 2024 cup final was the closest the Oilers – or any team based in Canada – has come to hoisting Lord Stanley in more than 30 years.
The Panthers are priced at +900 to repeat as Stanley Cup champions, something only two other teams – the Tampa Bay Lightning (2020, 21) and Pittsburgh Penguins (2016, 17) - have done in the 21st century.
Having reached the cup final back-to-back years, Florida’s roster can say they have more playoff know-how than most any other NHL team, something they can use to their advantage in the years to come.
Western Conference runners-up Dallas and Eastern Conference semifinalists Carolina are also joint-second in the odds at +900, with 2022 champions Colorado (+1000), the New Jersey Devils (+1000) and New York Rangers (+1200), who lost to Florida in the conference finals, rounding out the favorites.
