For much of the 2023-24 NHL season, the Golden Knights and Rangers were dominant and looked to be stalwarts at the top of the league. However, recent rough patches have seen both teams lose ground in their respective conferences.
Despite the slumps, the Golden Knights and Rangers are still 7th and 8th respectively in the league standings. These are good rosters looking to get hot.

Vegas Golden Knights to win +130
Things have looked a little bit better for the Golden Knights over the past few weeks.
They snapped out of an ugly run with a current 6-2-1 stretch which includes a 5-1 win over this Rangers team, while the Rangers have just three wins in their last 10 games including a loss to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
The Golden Knights have also had a strong recent stretch against the spread (ATS). They are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.
While this is not a puck line pick, strong numbers against the spread indicate that even at a +130 money line, they will likely keep this one close.
Vegas have been underdogs in four straight games entering tonight. In those four games, they are 3-0-1 straight up, again including their 5-1 win over the Rangers.
Until the Rangers break out of this slump, they are a fade against a good team like the Golden Knights that looks to have righted the ship.
Ivan Barbashev over 0.5 points points +120
In a game that will likely be close throughout its entirety, Ivan Barbashev thrives. He is a great mix of talent and physicality that several teams do not have in a top-six forward. This will be his kind of game which would only reinforce recent strong play.
In his last four games, Barbashev has three goals and seven points. He is on the second line with Jonathan Marchessault and Nicolas Roy, as well as on the second power play.
This is a strong player that is in good form and will be in a thriving situation. This plus money is decent value.
Under 6 total goals -120
The under has hit in nine out of the Golden Knights’ last 12 games. If they are going to have enough control in this game to win, they will likely have some say over the total as well.
As mentioned, these teams were or are in a bit of a slump and with that they may be pressing a little bit which bodes well for a lower total.
For the most part, the Rangers have been held in check by opponents over their last 10 games. They have scored two or fewer goals in six out of their last eight games.
If Vegas can hold New York to their recent offensive averages, the under will have a very good look, as evident by the Golden Knights’ 5-1 route of the Rangers last week which result in six total goals. Recent trends and potential game script look good for the under.
