The Florida Panthers held off the Edmonton Oilers' comeback for a 4-3 Game 3 victory to move within one win of their first-ever Stanley Cup success.
The Panthers took control of Game 3 in the second period, forging 4-1 ahead before Edmonton reduced the deficit in the third only to fall short.
Florida is now 3-0 up in the series and looking to win their first Stanley Cup at the third attempt, having lost in the final in 1996 to the Colorado Avalanche, as well as last season to the Vegas Golden Knights. They'll hope the third time is the charm.
Only once out of 29 attempts has a team failed to win the Cup when holding a 3-0 lead and that came back in 1942 when another Canadian team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, rebounded to beat the Detroit Red Wings.
Florida are a perfect four from four in converting 3-0 leads in a best-of-seven series and the odds appear to be stacked against the Oilers, who have lost all five series in which they have been down 3-0 previously.
Edmonton does at least have home advantage as they look to keep the series alive in Game 4 on Saturday night, but can they make it count?
The Florida Panthers have been the dominant force so far in this series and it could well pay to ride the wave as there is no obvious sign that Edmonton has worked out a plan to combat them at either end of the ice.
The Panthers may have ridden their luck a little in Game 1 but they still blanked the offensive juggernaut that is Edmonton to take the lead, before overpowering them in Game 2 to exert further control.
Thursday's Game 3 may look a little tighter on the scoreboard but let's not forget that Florida went 4-1 up in that game and ultimately got the job done.
Paul Maurice's men enjoyed a fantastic road record in the regular season with no side earning more than their 26 wins, and they have continued that in the postseason, winning seven and losing just two away from the Amerant Bank Arena.
They have been consistently carrying a goal threat while at the same time largely nullifying the Oilers renowned offense, winning the first three games by a combined score of 11-4.
Sergei Bobrovsky is also outplaying Stuart Skinner between the pipes by some margin, boasting a goals against average of 1.33 and save percentage of .953, compared to 3.13 and .868 of his opposite number. There is no obvious reason that the Oilers have found the answers to turn this series around.
At odds of +100, the Panthers look worth siding with to get the job done at the earliest opportunity and lift their first-ever Stanley Cup.
Although Edmonton needs to find solutions to the problems that Florida poses, there is no doubt that it has the talent to do so, from an offensive viewpoint at least, with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard all still well clear of all other players in points in the playoffs.
Unbelievably, Draisaitl has still to register a single point against the Panthers in this series while the powerplay has been shut out entirely so far, but the Oilers have no choice but to come on strong on Saturday and goals look the way to go.
The Panthers have been creating and converting chances up to this point and, despite Edmonton's struggles, there were still seven goals in Game 3 so more of the same is expected on Saturday night.
Given the offensive talent that will be on show on Saturday night, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the player prop markets, and a chance is taken on Evan Rodrigues at odds of +150 to score Over 0.5 points.
The 30-year-old winger has risen to the big occasion in the Stanley Cup Finals and shares the pointscoring lead in this series alongside Aleksander Barkov with four in three games so far.
Rodrigues scored a goal in Game 1, netted twice in Game 2 and extended his point streak to four games (having registered an assist in the series-clinching win over the New York Rangers) with an assist on Thursday night.
Although he doesn't see as much ice time as some of his teammates, he still finds ways to contribute and looks good value to add to his tally on Saturday night.
