Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers Game 5: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Following a Game 4 win by the Edmonton Oilers, the 2024 Stanley Cup Final heads back down to the states where the Florida Panthers will try and close things out on home ice.

They still hold a comfortable 3-1 series lead, but will the failure to sweep affect them? We’re here to help answer that question with our best Oilers vs. Panthers predictions.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers Game 5 betting picks and predictions

Over 5.5 goals (-105)

We expected the Oilers to avoid the first sweep in 26 seasons and they were able to do just that.

Not only did they finally grab a win, but they did so by scoring eight goals on the Panthers, which was the most they allowed all season, not just in the playoffs.

Those eight goals didn’t even include an empty netter, and the scoring got started with a short-handed goal just over three minutes into the game. In fact, the Oilers scored three goals in the first period alone and they were each scored by secondary skaters.

With those pieces stepping up, we expect Edmonton to continue lighting the lamp. Of course, with the Panthers being back on home ice, we expect much more than the lone goal we saw in Game 4.

Let’s not forget that they scored four goals in each of the two games prior.

It’s also worth remembering that even when the Oilers were shut out in Game 1 of the series, their expected goals were over five.

In other words, there was some regression expected from Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and that’s what we saw in Game 4 with him getting pulled in the second period.

While we may not see that drastic of a situation again, we still expect there to be at least six goals scored in Game 5.

Sam Bennett over 0.5 points (+110)

With several goals anticipated, we’re predicting at least one of them to have Sam Bennett involved.

While there are so many high-profile names in this series like Connor McDavid and Matthew Tkachuk, we’re getting some great value with Bennett.

The Florida center plays a major role for the Panthers and he’s been one of the best skaters on the ice throughout this postseason.

While the top-line center and captain Aleksander Barkov gets most of the attention, it’s Bennett who recorded a point in each of the first three games of the series.

He also drew an early penalty in Game 4 and we expect better power play performance from the Panthers back on home ice. Not only that, but Bennett was on fire against the Oilers even back in the regular season.

In their two regular season matchups, Bennett recorded four points. We just need one from him in Game 5 to cash a plus-money pick, so that’s our best Oilers vs. Panthers player props prediction.
