The NHL Playoffs are in full swing, but one event that provides optimism for the teams that missed the postseason is the NHL Draft Lottery.

The lottery determines which teams will pick first and second overall in the draft, and the worse a team's regular season record is, the better their odds of winning are.

In 2025, the San Jose Sharks have the best odds to get the No. 1 pick after finishing the season with just 52 points. The Sharks also had the top pick in 2024, and they drafted Macklin Celebrini first overall.

The 2025 NHL Draft Lottery will be broadcast on ESPN, available via cable TV or live TV streaming apps such as YouTubeTV or FuboTV.

The 2025 NHL Draft Lottery is scheduled to start at 7 PM ET/6 PM CT/4 PM PT on Monday, May 5th from NHL Network Studios in Secaucus, New Jersey.
