Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights Game 3: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

After back-to-back losses on home ice, the Dallas Stars now have to try and keep their Stanley Cup dreams alive when taking on the defending-champion Vegas Golden Knights on the road.

It’s about as tough of a task as it gets, but can they overcome it? Let’s break down our best bets to help answer that question.

Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights betting picks and predictions

Stars first period money line (-105)

As mentioned, the Stars have their backs against the ropes, completely giving up the home ice advantage that they earned. However, it sets up a situation that has proven to be lucrative in terms of the betting markets throughout the history of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

That situation would be when teams are down 2-0 in a series but are able to bounce back when leaving the pressures of their home crowd behind.

In other words, this is where it could be shrewd to back Dallas to get off to a hot start. Frankly, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them go on to win the game outright, but we’ll be a bit more conservative and isolate the first period.

The Stars money line price is the same as it is for the full game, which is virtually a pick ‘em. It’s also worth noting that should the first period end in a tie, this is graded as a push, which provides a bit more safety as well. Regardless, we’re willing to trust the #1 overall seed.

That’s right - despite being down 2-0 in the series, Dallas was the #1 overall seed in the Western Conference, while the Knights were the last of the eight teams to even make the postseason. It’s depth that concerns us when it comes to the Stars, but when their top line performs, they’re as good as it gets.

After a few nights off to switch venues, expect a fast start from the Stars to keep their hopes alive.

Joe Pavelski to record a point (-125)

We mentioned Dallas’ top line, which includes the veteran Joe Pavelski. His leadership and experience should help the Stars bounce back, as should his ability to get in the box score. Of that top line, only Jason Robertson scored a goal in Game 2.

Pavelski may not be the flashiest skater, but he’s had a consistent career, and if not for an injury in last year's postseason, he was on pace for another great playoffs. He was also able to both score a goal and record an assist against Vegas in the regular season.

So, getting his overall points prop at such a great price is extremely valuable. Of course, Robertson’s ability to score helps with that, as does the year captain Jame Benn has been having. In other words, he’s surrounded by talented skaters to help him get back in the box score. Therefore, Pavelski to record a point is our favorite way to approach the player prop market.
